I Speak This Language...I Speak This Language So Why Am I Confused?   
Something that I’ve never really found it useful to be taught in English classes is the parts of speech. Sure, in linguistics itself it’s a really good thing to know what they are because there’s all sort of complex analysis stuff that requires you to have the knowledge, but English? The language where pretty much any word can be used however you feel like it? The language that (hopefully) everyone taking a regular English class speaks? As far as I can tell, it just confused people to know this stuff. But heck, I explained punctuation so am going to try my hand at parts of speech too! & I Speak This Language...

Those Annoying Little LinesAs someone who reads and writes far too much for her own good, and who got stuck in every high school English class that focused on grammar, I’ve pretty much memorized the system of punctuation, spelling, etc. Of course, it helps that I’m a linguistics major, but that’s irrelevant here. Linguists don’t like written systems, and especially not the non-word bits.   
I’ve had a call for this piece, which will be on basic punctuation, and subsequent pieces discussing terminology, and feel that they are probably more clueless people out here, so here goes. Hopefully it’ll be understandable, unlike what teachers thrown at students in the Those Annoying Little Lines

Doin' NaNo this year. Again. Same name as here, and as the past three years, but in case you lost it or something, here: [link] No word yet on what my novel is, it's a secret and I also haven't decided yet.

Probably gonna open commissions soon, as actually being paid to do art presses me into actually figuring out how much I should be paid to do art. And I do so many different kinds, I am sure this will be interesting.

Finally and most importantly of all, I believe I have solved the scanner problem. I have yet to actually run this solution through a field test, but I am confident that it will work.

Life continues to go.
